Carthak.
Age, Date of Birth:
21. May 17.
Occupation:
Assistant and adopted daughter to a florist.
Status:

Magic:
None.
Family:
None that she knows of except her adopted mother.
Appearance:
Above
average height. She has a pointed chin and long black hair and dark brown eyes. She is tanned and relatively good looking,
although she still bears some scars from her odd fight with the street boys.
Clothing:
Yan wears bright
colours and bold patterns, and usually dresses in a shirt and long skirt.
Personality:
Yan hates restrictions.
The thing she hates most is taking other people's freedom, so, despite being born a slave in Carthak, she hates slave-taking
Carthakis, and very much disliked the life of a slave without freedom. Being a slave simply made her yearn for freedom even
more. She is very extrovert, but often makes very rash decisions. However, she can easily sympathize with (almost) everyone,
and is very easy to talk to, although she can bee too talkative at times. But sometimes, especially when happy, Yan can
bahave very weirdly.
Strengths:
Her ability to sympathize with people and her understanding of people
of different social classes.
Weaknesses:
Rules. Although born into slavery, Yan was not one for rules.
She will always do what she think is right. She was not treated badly for a slave, and was not usually badly punished, and
"what she thinks is right" is usually fine with her master, but she did get into trouble in a couple of cases.
History:
Yan was born into slavery in Carthak. At the age of 6 she was sold to an old man to do his housekeeping, and she could
not remember anything of her family. She did not like slavery at all, but her master was fairly kind on her, and after 12
years of hard work, her master died, and Yan was freed in her master's will, and given a small amount of money, which she
spent on a ship to Tortall. But she hadn't worked out what she was going to do when she got there. After several weeks of
begging on streets and sneaking in wagons, Yan found herself in Corus, where a florist, who was fairly well off, took pity
on her, and took her in to be her assistant. They soon developed feelings for each other, and she was adopted as the florist's
daughter.
What is your character most ashamed of?
She had never been very good to her master. She
did what she was told, but because of her dislike of slavery, she never liked her master much. After his death, Yan now feel
bad about never being very nice to him.
What makes your character unique?
Her love of cheese. Cheese
was a cheap food, and she had an adequate amount of it as a slave. She simply adores cheese, although it was simply irrational.
SHe gets cheese withdrawl if she doesn't eat it for too long.
Why is your character coming to the Inn?
Living
near it, it was inevitable that Yan will sooner or later find herself wandering in.
